On the road to the White House 2008

William and I are heading to Iowa to help Hillary win the Presidency and take this country back from the special interests. This will be our daily Blog. It is our intention to file reports on our activities every single day from 12/28/07 through 1/4/08 . Here you can find out what kind of exciting activities we are up to in Iowa. You can also get our take on how the campaign is fairing in this great state. Our daily posts will start on the evening of December 28th!!!

Dear Friends and Other Gentle People,

What a day. Here we are the day after Super Tuesday and virtually nothing is resolved. Hillary and Obama are in for the long haul. Obama won more states and Hillary won more delegates making Hillary the big winner on Super Tuesday.

The lying flip-flopper Romney looks like his campaign is dead in the water. However, Huckleberry has done well enough to see another day. John McCain looks like he will be the Republican nominee.

So we are on to the next races. Hillary will battle it out with Obama in the next race in Louisiana and caucuses in Washington and Nebraska on Saturday. But the next major chunk of delegates will come from what some are calling the Chesapeake or Potomac primaries in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia next Tuesday (click on the State for more info).

Good Day and God Bless,

Robert

I was making calls for Hillary in my home area this past weekend. The response was good. I believe February 5th will be a big day for Hillary and for America.

Hillary: The Come-Back Kid!

Hillary defies the pundits and talking heads and wins the New Hampshire Democratic Primary. We now have a horse race for the Democratic Party nomination.

We plan on re-tooling this blog and keeping you up to date on activities we are involved in to help elect Hillary our next President. Check back in a week or so as we evolve from an Iowa Caucus centered blog site to one that will keep tabs on the rest of the primaries!

A big victory for the Democratic Party

The picture above is taken at tonight’s caucus at the Cedar Heights Elementary School in Cedar Falls Iowa.

Iowa is a very white state. Tonight, white Iowa democrats and Independents put Obama over the top because they felt he was the best candidate. At the caucus I attended, Obama came in first with 143 votes, Edwards had 119, and Hillary had 83. It appears almost 40% of the Iowa caucus votes were independents (independents can vote in the democratic caucus if they change their registration at the door). The independents broke for Obama almost five to one. This surge of independents clearly put Obama over the top. Undoubtedly the Iowa caucus results further demonstrate that Independent voters are trending democratic.

While Hillary did not carry the day in Iowa, she was in the fight. The big loser may be Edwards. Without a win in Iowa it is questionable as to whether Edwards can remain viable. Hillary remains a serious contender for the Democratic Nomination. Hillary may have to work harder to get her message across. But there are no doubt friends; Hillary’s message is the best of the bunch.

It has been a long day and I am exhausted, so look for the rest of my thoughts on Iowa to appear over the next few days.

Good night and God Bless....

CAUCUS DAY IN IOWA

Dear Friends and other gentle people;

The Case:
The case has been made. Hillary is the best choice to be the next President of the United States. Hillary’s specific proposals on Health Care will cover every American. No one will be left behind, no one. Hillary will repair America’s standing in the world by the use of super diplomacy and working with everyone in the international community not just the US puppet states who make up Bush’s “coalition of the (bribed) willing”. And most importantly, Hillary will start bringing our troops home from Iraq in the first 60 days of her presidency. My friends, I believe in Hillary. There are many other reasons to support Hillary but time and space do not permit. For more information check here.

The Caucus:
The voters in Iowa take this process unbelievably seriously. We have helped out on a number of visits from Hillary and Bill in the greater Waterloo area. Many Iowans I spoke with had seen all the candidates and were putting forth an effort to pick the best candidate not just the lesser of the evils. Out of this process: I have met significant numbers of Iowans who are enthusiastic Hillary advocates. We all know the polls show a close race here in Iowa. Bill and I will serve the Hillary campaign in today’s caucus as Caucus Captains. While we can’t vote, we can help by ensuring union members who support Hillary know where to go and what to do to help Hillary carry the day here in Iowa. History will be made here in Iowa this day what ever happens. I am proud to play my small part in this process.

There are many reasons I support Hillary, not the least of which is that this country needs to be able to elect a qualified woman as president. I support Hillary because I think she is the best candidate running, female or male. However, I also want my eleven year old daughter to grow up in an America where any child of any race, boy or girl can grow up to be President.

Good day and god bless each and every one of you!

- Robert

One day to go......

Well friends, it was yet another long cold (wind chill of –15) day on the caucus trail here in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. We were in our precincts doing final delivery of packets for our caucus captains and literature drops to identified AFSCME members who have expressed both their support for Hillary and their willingness to caucus on her behalf. Following that, we attended a speech by Bill Clinton given at the National Cattle Congress here in Waterloo. Even though he was visibly tired, our former President gave an impassioned speech on behalf of Hillary to a crowd of several hundred (perhaps as many as a thousand) people. We are now less than twenty four hours from the caucus, and will start our day early tomorrow morning by trying to reach every single member that hasn’t previously been spoken to, to implore them to caucus for our candidate, and to encourage them to bring their likeminded friends, neighbors, and family members with them. After we have finished that, we will be giving rides to the caucuses to those who the Hillary campaign has identified as needing them. We will then be at our assigned caucus sights to observe the process and to assist in any way that we can, short of caucusing ourselves. I look forward to tomorrow as the first day of many leading to the election of Hillary as our next President. Although the polls are tight- indeed to close to call- I am positive that Robert and I have done everything in our power to assist the campaign, and we are optimistic of a victorious outcome.

All My Best

Bill
